Exciting news from the CYBO Conference (Conference of Young Botanists) in Genoa! 🌿

From February 5th to 7th, our member Giorgia Benati from Università di Bologna (PhD) had the opportunity to present her research as part of the Agriloop Project.

This conference brought together young researchers in the field of botany to showcase their work. Giorgia, as a PhD student, shared her work and insights on “Optimization of enzymatic digestions on tomato seeds to recover proteins and peptides” 🧪

Great job, Giorgia! 👏

“The conference gave me the chance to have a discussion with other young researchers and gain a better insight on what has been done and what to do next.”

The poster included: initial trials of protein extraction (proteases and cell-wall hydrolytic enzymes; trials using different pre-treatments applied to tomato seeds and incubation temperature optimization; and characterization (proteins, reducing sugars and total polyphenols), SDS-PAGE, and some biological activities (antioxidant and anti-browning activities) on best extracts.
